About Talomino
📖 Why I created Talomino
As a child, I loved borrowing books from the library. My favourites were stories where certain words were replaced by pictures. Instead of "fox" there was a 🦊, instead of "tree" a 🌳. This way I could already read along before I could actually read.
I wanted to bring this idea into the digital world – and that’s how Talomino was born. An app that helps children learn to read through play, with interactive stories where pictures and text come together to tell a story.
What is Talomino?
Talomino is a free web app for children aged 3 to 10. It offers:
Interactive stories
Stories with three reading levels: pictures only, pictures & text, and text only.
Learning games
Math, counting and letters – playful and with increasing difficulty.
Virtual companion
An animal that grows with the child and is fed with earned stars.
25 languages
Every child can use Talomino in their mother tongue.
Who’s behind it?
Talomino is developed by Webaufbau (Vincent Kilchherr) in Allschwil, Switzerland. As a web developer, I want to create a meaningful, ad-free alternative to the many cluttered children’s apps out there.
Our values
- Free – Talomino is and will remain free to use
